Celebrate New Years Eve in style with a creative, fun, playful hand-crafted sparkling headband!  You can start by cutting out simple shapes, such as a star or heart with cardboard (use a cookie cutter as a stencil if you like), cover in glue and sprinkle on the glitter… you can seal the glitter with a spray adhesive if you have some, then attach to your glitter-ized shape with hot glue to any headband you have lying around your house… and voila!  a quick, easy craft and party accessory :)

Another method like the one created in the first picture would be to cut out an oval shape and hot glue sparkly silk flowers to it, and then hot glue that onto a headband… so easy, fun and unique!  You can find sparkling silk flowers at your local craft store.

Pictured Waldorf Dolls available for purchase @ Pingvini and Berty & Masha

Oh, how I love the timeless beauty of a Waldorf Doll :)  Do you have an expecting mother or sweet little one in your life??  If so, a Waldorf doll would be the perfect gift idea!  They are classic, simple, “cuddly”, beautiful and delightful dolls that will add class, charm and a cozy warmth to any child’s room or nursery.  I just love them and recently bought 2 for my girls :)  I especially love Pingvini and Berty & Masha because they use eco-friendly materials to create their beautiful dolls.  More specifically, Pingvini uses 100% Organic materials, some of which include organic wool and organic alpaca yarn (alpaca yarn is extremely soft)!

Handmade Ornaments

My idea of a simple craft and fun last minute Holiday gift or activity for adults or kids are painted ornaments.  You can use a salt dough recipe or a cornstarch recipe (as featured in the first picture), or you can use wooden shapes, or even polymer clay.  I love the salt dough or cornstarch based ornaments because I always have those ingredients around my house.

Whichever recipe you choose, have fun painting it with simple geometric shapes and patterns to create a folk style ornament (my personal favorite!) that is simple and easy for just about anyone.  Add a fun ribbon to finish your piece, and voila!  You have the perfect last minute holiday gift or craft!  Enjoy! :)

With the holiday season in full bloom, I thought I’d share some of my favorite eco-friendly gift wrap finds :)  I love the idea of reusing something for something else that is just going to be thrown away anyway… why waste so much when you can create something even more beautiful and help the planet! If you are on a tight budget, I love the Trader Joe’s bag wrapping idea and you could even use some old handkerchiefs or old tee-shirts cut up to make the fabric wrap.  You could also forgo wrapping all together and use a basket like the special gift in the second picture.  You can find used fabric, baskets and so much more at your local thrift store and Goodwill.  Happy wrapping!! :)
